Canning & Preserving

Canning and preserving food is something that most people don’t do anymore. In the past, lots of people would grow their own food, harvest it, and then process it for long term storage so they would have food over the winter. There are different ways of storing food. You can can it, freeze it, dry it….I am not an expert in every way of preserving food, but I know that it’s well worth whatever time it takes to accomplish this.

Canning is the packing and preserving of food in cans or jars subjected to sterilizing temperatures. This may sound complicated like you need something like contract warehousing, but for the most part it’s not too difficult. We’ll look at the process of canning some of the most common things.



Freezing  food processing, is a method of preserving food by lowering the temperature to inhibitmicroorganism growth. This method is probably used more widely today than canning because it is quicker and easier, but, it also may not be the best method of food preservation. Some foods can better than they freeze.
